Russell Bay of Islands New Zealand

Bay of Islands is the warmest region in New Zealand and is considered uniquely sub-tropical.

Surrounded by 144 islands and bays, it's one of New Zealand's greatest destinations for local and international travelers.

The Bay of Islands Beach House is in a U-shaped north facing valley along the north side Te Wahapu Penninsula in Pomare Bay, where it's additionally protected from coastal winds, predominant weather and the water for swimming is warm, safe and non-tidal.

Driving instructions:
From the town of Opua, take the 10 minute car ferry to Russell. As you depart, drive 2.7 km. and turn left on Te Wahapu Road, then go another 2 km turning right at 174 Te Wahapu.  Look for the directional sign to Pagel, 174 F Te Wahapu, leading through a corridor of Manuka and fern trees, downhill towards the cove.
As you first turn onto Te Wahapu, you can access a newly completed bush and coastal boardwalk hiking trail thorough a Kiwi protected zone which leads from the ferry landing part way into Russell. We're a short drive to the village of Russell for shops and dining.
